Peter Gabriel plans to release physical versions of two live albums in March and May
Peter Gabriel is set to release two live albums on CD and LP this spring, following their availability on streaming platforms in 2025. “In the Big Room” is scheduled to be released on Mar. 13, with “Live at WOMAD 1982” to follow on May 8.
“In the Big Room” captures a special fan club show at the Big Room inside Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in the U.K. The collection features 14 tracks from his 2002 and 2003 Growing Up Live tour, as well as the 2004 Still Growing Up Live tour. The performance on Nov. 23, 2003, was held in the largest studio space available, and only members of the Full Moon fan club were able to secure tickets for this exclusive event.
“Live at WOMAD 1982” documents Peter Gabriel’s first appearance at the WOMAD festival. WOMAD, which stands for World of Music, Arts, and Dance, took place in Somerset, England, bringing together 60 bands from over 20 countries. The festival showcased Gabriel’s keen interest in music from various cultures, with the former Genesis singer putting his global influences in the spotlight. During the festival, Gabriel performed seven songs from his fourth album, which had been released just two months prior. The venue at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet accommodated 4,000 people in the indoor Showering Pavilion.
The band lineup for the event included David Rhodes on guitar, Peter Hammill from Van Der Graaf Generator, Larry Fast on synth work, Jerry Marotta on drums, and John Giblin on bass. Peter Gabriel has been honored by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, once with Genesis and again as a solo artist. His 1986 album, “So,” remains his most commercially successful record to date.
Looking ahead to 2026, Peter Gabriel has plans to release a new album titled “o/i,” expected to be completed by the end of the year. Preorders are currently available for both the physical releases of his live albums.
Throughout his career, Peter Gabriel has continued to captivate audiences with his unique blend of musical influences and powerful performances. With the upcoming releases of his live albums and plans for new music on the horizon, fans can anticipate more innovative and impactful music from this iconic artist.
