Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic singer from Black Sabbath, had a desire to work on a new album before his passing at the age of 76 in July. His longtime guitarist, Zakk Wylde, revealed that Osbourne had expressed his wish to create another record before his death due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.

Wylde shared that Osbourne had texted him with excitement, stating, “Zakk, let’s do another record. Because I really loved it when you were going through your Allman Brothers, Skynyrd phase when we did No More Tears — it’s heavy but it’s more melodic, it’s not pummeling heavy.” Wylde was eager to collaborate with Osbourne on this project and was prepared to work on whatever musical direction the rock legend envisioned.

Unfortunately, the planned album did not materialize as Osbourne prioritized completing his autobiography, Last Rites, instead. Following that, he also participated in a documentary by the BBC that chronicled his life and challenges with illness. Wylde noted that Osbourne diligently finished all his pending projects before expressing his readiness to move on.

Osbourne’s final public appearance with his Black Sabbath bandmates took place in Birmingham, England, where tens of thousands of fans gathered to witness the historic event. This spectacular show marked his farewell performance, showcasing his commitment and passion for music even amidst ongoing health struggles, including multiple back surgeries and his battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Reflecting on the Birmingham concert, Wylde admitted that he didn’t realize it would be their last time performing together. Playing hit songs like “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Crazy Train” without grasping the gravity of the moment, the guitarist highlighted Osbourne’s determination to push through challenges and deliver an unforgettable show for their dedicated fans.

Osbourne’s extensive discography, including his solo albums, and his memoir, Last Rites, are available for purchase on his official website, allowing fans to continue celebrating his legacy through his music and personal reflections. Despite his untimely passing, Ozzy Osbourne’s impact on the music industry and his fans worldwide remains enduring and unforgettable.
