Sugar, fronted by Bob Mould, announces 2026 world tour
Bob Mould, known for his alt-rock trio Sugar, is experiencing a resurgence in popularity with the announcement of a new single and an extensive tour. Sugar, a band that has not toured in many years, is set to release a new song titled “Long Live Love,” which was originally conceptualized by Mould nearly two decades ago. Produced by Butch Vig of Garbage fame, the track has a nostalgic feel reminiscent of Mould’s pop songwriting days during the George W. Bush era.
“Long Live Love” is accompanied by the previously released track “House of Dead Memories” on a seven-inch single, scheduled for release on May 1 by BMG. Fans can already pre-order the single, which will also feature a music video directed by Lee Gregory. This new music from Sugar comes as a welcomed surprise for fans of the band, especially considering their last album, “File Under: Easy Listening,” was released back in 1994. The band’s debut album from 1992, “Copper Blue,” was recently commemorated with a limited edition 4LP box set that included a live performance at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro.
Following the success of their reunion residencies in New York and London, which quickly sold out, Sugar is gearing up for the Love You Even Still Tour. The tour will kick off with a European leg, including stops in Germany, France, Spain, and more. North American shows are scheduled from August through September, with stops in major cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, and Boston, among others. Special multi-night performances are planned for Minneapolis and Philadelphia to cater to eager fans. Tickets for all shows will go on pre-sale on Tuesday, Jan 27, with general sales beginning on Friday, Jan 30. A portion of the proceeds from the tour will be donated to organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community.
