A chilling new video has surfaced, revealing a heartbreaking moment involving Minneapolis protester and ICU nurse, Alex Pretti. The chaotic footage captured the chaotic seconds when a border agent yelled “he’s got a gun” and reached into the fray to grab a weapon just before a series of fatal shots rang out. The scene was captured during an anti-ICE protest when Pretti intervened as a woman was being mistreated by federal agents, resulting in a violent confrontation.

In the intense footage, shot just steps away, one can see Pretti being forcefully restrained by a group of federal agents after coming to a woman’s aid during the protest. In a close-up view, an agent wearing a gray jacket can be seen brandishing a handgun, later identified as Pretti’s legally owned 9mm semi-automatic pistol. The video captures the moment the weapon is raised, with visible movement suggesting a discharge, shortly before another officer fired multiple rounds at close range.

As Pretti struggled on the ground, officers audibly issued warnings and attempted to reach for his waistband, while bystanders continued to film the escalating situation. What ensues is a rapid succession of gunshots, depicting the armed agent firing repeatedly at Pretti as he crumbled to the ground. The agent proceeded to discharge at least nine more rounds into Pretti’s motionless body as uncertainty and shock filled the air.

The aftermath of the shooting has sparked a fierce national debate over the necessity of employing deadly force against the protestors. While federal officials maintain that the shooting was a defensive reaction to a perceived armed suspect, the footage suggests otherwise, indicating that Pretti was disarmed moments before the fatal shots were fired. This incident represents the second fatal shooting in Minneapolis amidst confrontations between protestors and ICE agents, following a recent incident where Renee Good was killed by an ICE officer in a similar context.

The tragedy unfolded on a Saturday morning off Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, amidst harsh winter conditions and escalating tensions between protesters and law enforcement agencies. Responding to reports of a shooting involving federal agents, Minneapolis police discovered a white male victim with multiple gunshot wounds at the crime scene. Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino detailed that ICE agents were attempting to detain an Ecuadorian illegal immigrant with a criminal history, sparking the fatal encounter that led to Pretti’s untimely demise. Despite the family’s heartbreak and anger over the loss of their loved one, they praised Pretti for his selfless act of standing up for the vulnerable during the chaotic protest, emphasizing his dedication to serving American veterans and creating a positive impact in the world.
