Lead guitarist Brian May cited concerns about safety as the primary reason for this choice, stating that America is currently seen as a dangerous place. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, May expressed his sadness about this decision, acknowledging that Queen has a deep connection to the country where they grew up and thrived. However, he emphasized that the current state of affairs in the U.S. has made touring there a risky proposition.
Queen’s last tour in the U.S. took place in 2023 with singer Adam Lambert, while the band’s final tour with original lead singer Freddie Mercury occurred in 1982 before his death in 1991. May’s wife, Anita Dobson, has been advocating for a reduction in the band’s live performances, especially due to May’s health concerns. She disclosed in late 2025 that Queen is likely approaching the end of their touring days, largely because of May’s health issues and the natural process of aging that the band members are experiencing.
Drummer Roger Taylor previously mentioned to Rolling Stone that Queen had no intentions of embarking on a farewell tour, stating that the band doesn’t see an end in sight.
