The prestigious 2026 GRAMMY Awards took place on February 1 in the heart of Los Angeles, CA. To the delight of music lovers worldwide, the rock, metal, and alternative categories were showcased at the premiere ceremony hosted at the Peacock Theater before the widely-televised main event.

One of the standout performances of the afternoon ceremony came from Canadian alternative metal sensation Spiritbox, who took the stage to deliver a live rendition of their track “Soft Spine.” This performance marked their third GRAMMY nomination and secured them a spot in the Best Metal Performance category. Although Spiritbox delivered a compelling performance, they did not walk away with any awards.

The title of Best Metal Performance was awarded to Turnstile for their exceptional track “Birds,” hailing from their latest album, NEVER ENOUGH. The Baltimore-based band experienced further success by winning the highly coveted Best Rock Album award, solidifying their position as one of the day’s biggest rock winners.

Meanwhile, YUNGBLUD celebrated his inaugural GRAMMY win for Best Rock Performance with his captivating live cover of Black Sabbath’s classic hit “Changes.” This electrifying performance took place during Back To The Beginning, a momentous event that paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. YUNGBLUD’s backing band featured exceptional talents such as Nuno Bettencourt, Frank Bello, Adam Wakeman, and II of Sleep Token, with Sharon Osbourne herself gracing the stage to accept the award.

In the realm of industrial rock, Nine Inch Nails secured the award for Best Rock Song with “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” a track featured on the upcoming Tron: Ares soundtrack. Despite their win, the band could not be present to accept their accolade. Additionally, The Cure dominated the alternative music categories, clinching the title of Best Alternative Music Performance for their single “Alone” and seizing the award for Best Alternative Music Album with Songs Of A Lost World.
