Metric has recently unveiled details about their upcoming album, “Romanticize the Dive,” set for release on April 24 through Thirty Tigers. The band chose to return to NYC’s Electric Lady studios to work on this record. The album was produced by Gavin Brown, co-produced by Jimmy Shaw and Liam O’Neil, and mixed by John O’Mahoney. The cover art and tracklist for the album have also been released. One of the tracks from the album, titled “Victim of Luck,” serves as the first single and sets the tone for the entire album. Emily Haines, Metric’s lead vocalist, describes the album as focusing on the romanticism of an imperfect life. She explains that the song “Victim Of Luck” and the entire album are about shedding self-consciousness and pretense.

According to Haines, the album reflects on their journey from humble beginnings, playing to small audiences while struggling financially. She emphasizes the importance of perseverance and dedication to their craft, highlighting how they eventually found success through hard work and forging genuine connections with their audience. Haines shares how the band’s commitment to each other has been a source of strength and fulfillment, stating that the bonds they’ve built are authentic and valuable.
