New video released in fatal shooting involving law enforcement in Pickaway County

A recent incident in Pickaway County, Ohio, has drawn attention after new body-camera footage was released showcasing a deadly confrontation between law enforcement officials and a suspect. The video, made public by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, depicts a deputy imploring the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Chase Dalton, to drop his weapon. In the footage, Dalton can be seen standing on the porch of a residence while officers endeavor to negotiate with him. Deputies from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, as well as officers from the Ashville and South Bloomfield police departments, were on the scene as well, attempting to engage Dalton in conversation for over 10 minutes.

Following Dalton’s actions of pointing a gun at officers, gunfire ensued. The body-camera video records more than a dozen shots fired during the altercation. Fortunately, no law enforcement personnel sustained injuries. Dalton, who hailed from Lithopolis, was declared deceased at a nearby hospital.
