New video for Baki-Dou anime unveils theme songs
The new Baki-Dou anime has just released its main promotional video, showcasing the opening and ending theme songs. WANIMA, a rock band, performs the opening song “Furuboko,” while singer-songwriter Novel Core sings the ending theme “Mountain Top.” Fans can look forward to these energetic and captivating songs setting the tone for the upcoming series.
Scheduled for a worldwide debut on Netflix on February 26, the anime will offer all 13 episodes at once for viewers to binge-watch. The talented Naoya Uchida will take on the role of Miyamoto Musashi in the series, adding to the excitement surrounding the upcoming release.
Keisuke Itagaki’s original Baki The Grappler martial arts manga captivated readers with its intense storyline over 42 volumes in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine from 1991 to 1999. The manga was later published in English by Kodama Tales in October, reaching a wider audience with its thrilling narrative.
Following the success of Baki The Grappler, Itagaki continued to expand the series with a sequel manga spanning 31 volumes from 1999 to 2005. Media Do has since released the sequel manga in English, allowing international fans to delve deeper into the world of Baki.
The franchise continued to evolve with the publication of the 37-volume Hanma Baki manga from 2005 to 2012. The subsequent Baki-Dou manga launched in 2014 and came to a close in 2018, spanning 22 volumes. A new Baki-Dou manga emerged in 2018 and concluded in 2023, ushering in fresh storylines and characters for fans to enjoy.
The latest addition to the Baki series, Baki Rahen, debuted in 2023, further expanding the universe that fans have come to love. The series has seen multiple adaptations, with the new anime of Baki (New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero) premiering on Netflix in 2018 to critical acclaim within and outside Japan. Subsequent seasons, including Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen and Baki Hanma, continued to captivate audiences with their gripping narratives and intense action sequences.
