Thomas Heppell, British blues guitarist, drops new single “Dust My Broom”
British blues artist Thomas Heppell has unveiled his latest single, “Dust My Broom,” which serves as the opening track of his upcoming EP entitled “Rollin’ n Tumblin’.” The song is a reinterpretation of the classic hit originally recorded by Robert Johnson in 1936, representing a significant piece of blues history and influencing subsequent electric guitar styles like Elmore James’ slide guitar and the overall British blues movement. While “Dust My Broom” has a rich legacy, it has not been frequently revisited by UK blues musicians in recent years. Heppell’s rendition pays homage to the original while adding a modern flair and unique touch.
Heppell is widely recognized for his authentic slide guitar technique and strong roots in Delta blues music, positioning him as a prominent figure in the UK blues scene. Over the years, he has performed alongside renowned blues artists like Albert Lee, Mike Zito, and Aynsley Lister, demonstrating his talent and earning critical acclaim. His contributions have garnered early radio support and nominations at the prestigious UK Blues Awards in 2026.
Reflecting on his latest project, Heppell shared, “Dust My Broom is a song that has resonated with UK blues enthusiasts for generations. When recording this track, I aimed to stay true to its essence, allowing the music to speak for itself while infusing my personal style into the performance.” To mark the release of “Dust My Broom,” Thomas Heppell will be embarking on an extensive tour across the UK, captivating audiences with both solo and full band performances.
