In Paris, renowned landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre attract tourists, making them prime targets for opportunistic theft. Scammers often employ tactics like fake charity or petition schemes to deceive tourists into donating to nonexistent organizations. Pickpocketing emerged as the most prevalent type of theft in Paris, with almost 30% of review mentions highlighting this issue, as reported by Radical Storage.

Following Paris, Rome secured the second spot, accounting for 10.7% of theft-related reviews. The Italian capital witnessed a significant 68% rise in pickpocketing incidents from 2019 to 2024, indicating a growing concern for tourist safety. Barcelona came in third place with 5.3% of theft-related reviews, highlighting the importance of staying cautious while exploring popular tourist spots.

Other cities listed in the top 10 pickpocket hotspots include Bangkok, Orlando, Istanbul, New York City, Milan, Las Vegas, and Delhi. These cities also reported varying percentages of theft-related reviews, emphasizing the need for travelers to be mindful of their surroundings and belongings at all times.
