Kid Rock cancels Rock the Country festival stop as band withdraws
Kid Rock’s Rock the Country festival has faced setbacks as another musical act, Shinedown, decided to withdraw from the controversial festival tour. The tour recently faced the cancellation of two shows scheduled for July 25 and July 26 in Anderson, South Carolina, with unclear reasons provided to the county administrators.
Initially planned as an event featuring performances by artists with a conservative stance like Kid Rock, the festival faced criticisms and lost some of its talent. Rusty Burns, the Anderson County Administrator, mentioned that the festival cancelations were notified without providing details on the reasons behind these decisions.
Although Fox Carolina reported that the cancellations were due to “unforeseen circumstances,” the lack of information surrounding these decisions raises questions about the future of the Rock the Country tour. The South Carolina stop has been officially removed from the festival’s website, indicating a change from the initially planned “8 massive shows” to “7 massive shows.” The canceled shows in Anderson, which were set to include performances by Shinedown, are now absent from the updated festival lineup.
Shinedown, in a statement shared on Instagram, emphasized their commitment to unity and expressed concerns about participating in events that could potentially fuel further division. This sentiment aligns with the increasing number of artists withdrawing from the Rock the Country festival. Country singer Morgan Wade and Carter Faith are among the other acts that have also pulled out from the tour for various reasons.
Kid Rock’s festival, described as a celebration of American community, tradition, and spirit, aimed to honor the nation’s 250-year history during the United States’ Semiquincentennial. Founded by the outspoken Trump supporter Kid Rock in 2024, the festival sought to bring together a lineup of diverse artists, including Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Jelly Roll, and Miranda Lambert.
With the festival kickoff scheduled for May in Bellville, Texas, the recent string of cancelations and controversies may reshape the overall tone and participation in the upcoming Rock the Country tour.
