Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” Tops Billboard Hot 100 Chart
America has a new #1 song on the charts, and surprisingly, it’s a country song. Rising country sensation Ella Langley is celebrating her first-ever #1 hit with her track “Choosin’ Texas,” which has climbed from the #2 spot to the very top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. This achievement marks the 31st song to achieve chart-topping status on both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts since the Hot 100’s inception back in 1958. Langley’s song has also made history as the first by a female artist to claim the #1 position on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts, a record previously achieved only by a select few tracks by male artists.
Collaborating with country superstar Miranda Lambert, along with songwriters Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, Langley crafted the heart-wrenching ballad “Choosin’ Texas.” Lambert, a Texan herself, lends her vocal talent as a backup singer on the track, which tells the tale of a woman from Tennessee losing her man to a Texan beauty. Langley, Lambert, and Ben West serve as the producers of the song, as well as of Langley’s upcoming album, “Dandelion,” set for release on April 10. Notably, “Choosin’ Texas” marks the first time any of the song’s writers or producers have achieved a #1 hit. Despite their achievements, both Langley and Lambert are also set to join Kid Rock’s “Rock The Country” tour, much to the dismay of some fans.
