After many years of being asked by friends when he would release an instrumental album, Vito finally decided to do just that. This new release, Slidemaster, is a culmination of instrumental tracks played on slide guitar, a style for which he is well-known. Combining new material with remixed favorites from previous albums, Slidemaster offers a soulful collection of all-instrumental slide guitar tracks that reflect Vito’s passion for his craft.
Rick Vito’s previous album, Cadillac Man in 2024, received widespread acclaim and airplay, ultimately reaching the number one spot on the Roots Radio Report. Known for his time in Fleetwood Mac from 1987 to 1991, Vito’s guitar work and songs are featured on several of the band’s albums, including their Greatest Hits compilation. Following his tenure with Fleetwood Mac, Vito collaborated with Mick Fleetwood to form the “Mick Fleetwood Blues Band featuring Rick Vito,” resulting in a Grammy nomination in 2010 for Best Traditional Blues. Vito’s slide guitar solos on Bob Seger’s “Like A Rock” have become iconic, heard by millions through Seger’s albums and Chevy truck TV commercials.
Throughout his career, Vito’s guitar work has graced recordings by numerous legendary artists such as Bonnie Raitt, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, and John Fogerty, among others. His songwriting and compositions have also been featured in various movies and TV shows, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and talented musician.
In addition to his contributions to the music industry, Vito is also a designer of Art Deco and Modernistic guitars, with his signature model guitar available from Reverend Guitars.
