Which artists have pulled out of Kid Rock’s ‘Rock the Country’ festival?
Kid Rock is all set to take the spotlight at the “alternative” Super Bowl Halftime show organized by Turning Point USA, shortly before he commences his eagerly anticipated “Rock the Country” tour later this year. Nonetheless, the run-up to the festivities has been tainted by a series of controversies, with key musical artists withdrawing from the lineup, culminating in the cancellation of a designated tour stop.
Ludacris, a prominent rapper, was the first to exit the festival roster. Previously featured in the lineup announcement, he informed Rolling Stone on January 16 that his inclusion had been an error, stating that it was a mix-up, and that he was not meant to be on the list. As of February 8, his name has been removed from the tour list, alongside country singers Morgan Wade and Carter Faith.
Further disruptions followed when rock band Shinedown decided to withdraw from the tour on February 6, highlighting the festival’s divisive nature as a point of contention. The band emphasized its mission to foster unity, distancing itself from events that could exacerbate divisions amongst people. Contrary to their discreet exit, rock band Creed quietly exited the tour without issuing any public statements.
While the festival itself isn’t entirely canceled, it appears that one of the designated stops was eliminated by Rock and the tour’s organizers. The Anderson, South Carolina stop initially scheduled for July 25 and 26 is no longer featured on the tour’s website, as reported by Billboard. Local news outlet The Post and Courier confirmed that Anderson County officials were notified on February 5 about the cancellation of the two-day concert. However, the reason behind the cancellation remains unspecified.
Despite the setbacks and artists’ exits, Kid Rock’s eagerness to entertain at the alternative Super Bowl Halftime show persists, serving as a precursor to his upcoming country music tour. The festival, albeit facing hurdles, retains its character and showmanship, promising fans an electrifying experience unique to the rock star’s enigmatic persona. As the music world continues to witness shifts in lineups and unforeseen changes, Kid Rock remains steadfast on the stage, ready to awe audiences with his signature performances in the “Rock the Country” tour and the spirited Super Bowl Halftime show.
