Suspected Vegas Club Promoter Hits British Mother and Child Near Strip, Flees, Say Police
A distressing hit-and-run incident occurred near the Las Vegas Strip on Super Bowl Sunday, leaving a family from the UK devastated. 28-year-old Gavin Caci, a resident of Las Vegas who identifies as a club promoter, is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and fleeing the scene after hitting a mother and her toddler with his vehicle.
The tragic event transpired at around 7:35 p.m. on February 8, 2026, when Caci collided with a car driven by Yurdenia Velazco-Hernandez, a 35-year-old Las Vegas resident, who was stationary at a red light near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane. The impact caused Caci’s Tesla to veer onto the sidewalk, where it struck a family of three tourists from the UK.
The 43-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment for their potentially life-threatening injuries at the University Medical Center. Emergency medical services administered life-saving measures at the scene. Fortunately, the toddler’s father and Velazco-Hernandez sustained only minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Despite being unharmed, Caci fled the scene, but a witness tracked him down at the Topgolf parking lot on Koval Lane. Las Vegas police promptly arrested him, stating that he displayed signs of impairment.
Following his arrest, Caci is facing severe charges, including two counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, two counts of reckless driving, and four counts of failing to stop at an accident scene. During a court hearing on Monday, Caci was ordered to be detained without bail. His defense team requested a continuance to review the evidence, and his next appearance in court is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
