Earth Tongue has recently released their third album, Dungeon Vision, showcasing the duo’s musical prowess. The album, which features twelve tracks, was written in Berlin, where Earth Tongue is currently based. The duo honed their craft during winter in a windowless practice space before heading to Los Angeles to record at Altamira Sound. Fuzz rock legend Ty Segall produced the album, bringing out the band’s full force with fuzz-drenched guitars, powerful drums, and melodic vocals.
The album was recorded live to tape without the use of click tracks or computers, giving it a raw and urgent feel reminiscent of 1970s rock albums. This departure from modern studio techniques allowed Earth Tongue to preserve the kinetic intensity of their sound while exploring new creative territories. Alongside the album’s release, the band also unveiled a music video for their single ‘Orbit of a Witch’, shot in a medieval dungeon setting.
Earth Tongue is set to tour their new album, starting from the Turner Centre in Kerikeri and spanning across Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington. The band’s live performances have always been known for their mind-expanding power, and the European audiences they have played for have responded positively to their unique and weird sound. Dungeon Vision captures the magic of their live shows and cements Earth Tongue’s position as an influential psych-rock act on the international stage.
This new album follows the success of their previous release, Great Haunting, which earned Earth Tongue the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Group in 2025. Dungeon Vision expands on the momentum of their previous work, offering a focused and urgent snapshot of the band’s evolving sound. With its blend of raw energy, intricate textures, and cinematic imagination, the album proves that Earth Tongue is one of New Zealand’s most essential and internationally engaging musical acts.
