Neighbors urged to review security footage from specific dates near Nancy Guthrie’s residence
Residents residing near Nancy Guthrie’s residence in Tucson have been urged to review the security camera footage from two specific days in January as the investigation into her disappearance progresses. An alert distributed to Neighbors by Ring app users requests that individuals examine their security footage during the timeframes of 9 p.m. to midnight on Jan. 11 and between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Jan. 31. The alert specifically mentions a suspicious vehicle spotted in the vicinity around 10 a.m. on Jan. 31.
Guthrie was last spotted on Jan. 31 and her absence was reported the following day when she failed to attend church services. The search for the 84-year-old, who is the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, has now extended into its 12th day, with authorities believing that she was taken against her will.
This week has seen an uptick in FBI presence in the area, with agents actively scouring roadways around the Catalina Foothills on Wednesday. On Thursday, federal agents erected a tent outside Guthrie’s home, blocking access to the front door. Simultaneously, Pima County authorities anticipate making more detentions as they sift through a deluge of calls and tips linked to Guthrie’s disappearance.
To aid in the ongoing investigation, federal investigators released surveillance footage captured outside Guthrie’s residence on the morning of her disappearance. The footage reveals an armed individual dressed in a ski mask and gloves tampering with the camera situated on Guthrie’s front door. Savannah Guthrie, in an effort to elicit more information, shared the surveillance footage on her social media platforms and encouraged anyone with knowledge to contact law enforcement.
In an expression of hope and yearning for her mother’s safe return, Savannah Guthrie affirmed, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.” The sheriff’s office also confirmed that black gloves found in Guthrie’s neighborhood are under DNA analysis, potentially providing crucial leads in the investigation.
