The unconventional artist Theo Zhykharyev, originally from Ukraine and currently based in London, creates unique synth-punk music under the alias Powerplant. His upcoming album, titled Bridge Of Sacrifice, is set to be released next month and has been generating excitement. Recently, Powerplant unveiled a new track from the album called “The Fork,” a haunting and mesmerizing tune.

“The Fork” initially captures a sound reminiscent of what could be imagined if Mount Eerie delved into a gothic sound in the early 2000s. However, the song evolves into something much grander and emotionally stirring. Accompanied by a music video directed by Giulia Mucci, “The Fork” is an eerie and captivating piece filled with imagery of knights and witches that adds depth to the overall listening experience.

Zhykharyev shared his thoughts on the music video, praising Mucci’s ability to blend elements of modernity with a sense of bygone eras. He described the video as a tribute to the quirky world of B movies, emphasizing its low-budget charm and playful magic. The storyline crafted by Mucci revolves around an evil witch enchanting a suit of armor to seek out a mortal for her own purposes, adding a timeless quality to the narrative. The video was shot on Super 8 film just outside Rome, giving it a warm visual aesthetic that contrasts with the cold atmosphere it conveys.

“The Fork” provides a glimpse into the creative and unconventional vision of Powerplant, showcasing Zhykharyev’s ability to blend different elements and genres into his music. The song, along with its accompanying music video, offers a unique and immersive experience for listeners and viewers alike.

Bridge Of Sacrifice, the upcoming album by Powerplant, is scheduled for release on 3/13 through Arcane Dynamics, further building anticipation for Zhykharyev’s distinctive blend of synth-punk music. Stay tuned for more updates on Powerplant and their upcoming album as they continue to push boundaries and explore new avenues in the realm of music.
