In a thrilling overtime match, the Boaz Pirates secured the Class 5A, Area 13 tournament title by defeating the Sardis Lions with a final score of 70-64. This victory marked the first championship win for the Pirates since 2022, bringing the team back to the summit under the guidance of coach Cameron Whitt. Landon Cannady, a junior player, shone brightly during the game with an impressive performance, tallying 23 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Additionally, Logan Williams, a sophomore, contributed significantly to the win with his 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Despite a remarkable 35-point effort from Sardis’ Lucas Montgomery, the Pirates managed to outlast the Lions and clinch the coveted title.
