Bon Scott, the iconic lead singer and lyricist of AC/DC, Fraternity, and The Valentines, is remembered as one of the most legendary front men in rock and roll history. His unmistakable scream, clever lyrics, infectious grin, and carefree attitude are forever etched into the annals of music history. Despite his tragic death in 1980, Bon Scott’s legacy lives on, and today, on what would have been his 80th birthday on July 9th, the Bon Scott Estate and Perryscope Productions are gearing up for a grand celebration.

In honor of Bon Scott’s unparalleled vocal talent, renowned German studio Neuma has collaborated with the Bon Scott estate to launch a collection of limited-edition signature products on his milestone 80th birthday. Fans can anticipate the release of exclusive merchandise curated to honor the rock and roll icon’s enduring legacy. Additionally, The Perth Mint will be issuing limited-edition collector’s gold and silver bars adorned with Bon’s likeness, following the success of the sold-out 1oz silver proof coin released in 2024.

The celebration continues with an exclusive artwork created by graphic artist Reg Mombassa, a founding member of Mental As Anything, and a design that will be featured on posters, t-shirts, and other special merchandise. Knucklebonz, renowned for their collectible rock and roll statues, will introduce the third Bon Scott edition in 2026, inspired by iconic moments from the 1978 Powerage tour.

Despite Bon’s penchant for performing shirtless, various apparel partnerships have emerged to allow fans to proudly display their admiration for the iconic rock star. Dixxon Flannel Co. will unveil a limited-edition Bon Scott shirt in “Heritage” Tartan, with Copa Football Jerseys creating a collectible Bon 80 football jersey in the same striking design. Fans can also look forward to a range of brand-new Bon 80 t-shirt designs and exclusive items available through the Perryscope official online store and Merch Jungle in Australia.

The Bon Scott Estate has secured a deal with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to facilitate the release of Bon Scott video content on his official YouTube channel. The channel will feature exclusive interviews with Bon’s friends, peers, and admirers, such as Rick Springfield, Bruce Howe, Sammy Hagar, and Scott Ian, discussing their memories of Bon and his lasting impact on music.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Bonfest, The International Bon Scott Rock Festival, set to take place in Kirriemuir, Scotland, on May 1st-3rd. The festival, presented by Kirriemuir youth charity DD8 Music, boasts a stellar lineup of rock bands and AC/DC tribute acts, guaranteeing a weekend of homage to the rock icon in his hometown. The festival will also feature a special pop-up Bon Scott merch store at the location of the original Scott family bakery in Kirriemuir.

Mark your calendars for the third annual Bon’s Birthday Bash in NYC on July 6th, featuring guest vocal performances by renowned artists like Corey Glover, Jimmy Kunes, Peter Shaw, and Tony Award-winner Lena Hall. The event promises to be a memorable tribute to Bon Scott’s enduring legacy.

Additionally, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will host a one-night-only screening of the classic concert film “Let There Be Rock: The Movie,” accompanied by a special limited Bon Scott memorabilia display. The event will honor the formidable career of Bon Scott and celebrate his timeless contribution to the world of rock music.

Despite his passing 46 years ago, the music created by Bon Scott with AC/DC remains a pivotal cultural force. Recent high-profile licensing deals have seen his songs featured in acclaimed productions like the Tom Holland-starring Lego short film “Never Stop Playing” and the Mitsubishi Outlander Australian TV spot.

AC/DC continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their ongoing PWR/UP tour, which includes several tracks penned by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott in their setlist. The band’s electrifying performances pay homage to Bon Scott’s unrivaled charisma, ensuring his legacy endures for generations to come.

Ronald Belford “Bon” Scott’s journey from a small town in Scotland to worldwide rock and roll stardom is a tale of transcendent talent, passion, and resilience. His extraordinary contributions to music industry continue to inspire fans and musicians alike, ensuring that his spirit lives on in the hearts of music lovers across the globe.
