Foo Fighters to release new album ‘Your Favorite Toy’ with title track now available for streaming
Last week, Foo Fighters gave fans a taste of what’s to come with their upcoming album by previewing 11 new songs. Fans can now look forward to the release of “Your Favorite Toy” in April, marking the band’s 12th studio album and the debut of new drummer Ilan Rubin. The latest single, “Your Favorite Toy,” was released today.
Lead singer Dave Grohl expressed his excitement about the new album, stating, “‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album. We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
The album was recorded at the band’s home and co-produced by the group and Oliver Roman, who also engineered the project. Following the release of “Asking for A Friend” in October, the band surprised fans with a live EP on Bandcamp. Along with their upcoming festival appearances and North American tour alongside Queens Of The Stone Age and Mannequin Pussy, Foo Fighters recently announced shows in Oceania in November and January, as well as a symphonic concert at the Hollywood Bowl on August 22.
The tracklist for Your Favorite Toy includes songs such as “Caught In The Echo,” “Of All People,” “Window,” “Your Favorite Toy,” “If You Only Knew,” “Spit Shine,” “Unconditional,” “Child Actor,” “Amen, Caveman,” and “Asking For A Friend.” Fans can expect the album to drop on April 24 via Roswell Records/RCA Records.
Overall, the band seems to be embracing a fresh sound and direction with their new album, drawing inspiration from various experimental sounds and dynamics. The creation of “Your Favorite Toy” served as a turning point in the album’s production, setting the tone for the rest of the record. With the anticipation building up for the release of Your Favorite Toy, fans can look forward to Foo Fighters’ latest musical venture and the exciting collaborations and performances that lie ahead.
