TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2’s New Release Date Announced
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2” is set to hit screens earlier than expected, much to the delight of fans. The new release date for the animated sequel has been moved up to August 13, 2027, from the original date of September 17, 2027, giving kids and families an even better opportunity to enjoy the film.
The film will be helmed by director Jeff Rowe once again, but this time around, he will be joined by co-directors Yashar Kassai and Kyle Spears. The familiar voices of Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Brady Noon as Raphael, and Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil will return to bring the characters to life once more.
During discussions about the sequel, Rowe hinted at a narrative focus on the iconic villain Shredder, although specific plot details are still under wraps.
While contemplating the sequel, Rowe expressed, “Shredder is just a great character. He’s an iconic, classic, loved character. He’s like the Joker. You know who he is, even if you’re not a fan of the source material. I think we definitely want to do a villain-forward film. We’re currently trying to make decisions about that, but those decisions for us as filmmakers are always going to come from the place of what tells the best story, specifically about our main characters, the Turtles.”
The first movie’s official plot synopsis described how the Turtle brothers strive to win the hearts of New Yorkers, aiming to be accepted as ordinary teenagers through brave acts. With the help of their new friend April O’Neil, they take on a notorious crime syndicate, only to face a new threat when an army of mutants is unleashed against them.
