Lebanon County’s talented singer-songwriter Alex Stanilla recently unveiled his latest indie-rock single, “Mahoning,” on February 25.

Stanilla shared that the inspiration for “Mahoning” struck him while he was driving along the Ohio Turnpike to Cleveland back in 2024. He vividly recalls the moment when the concept for the chorus materialized, as he cruised at 70 mph under the clear blue skies. Upon the realization of needing a break from the road, Stanilla took an exit that led him to Mahoning, Ohio, where he stumbled upon the mesmerizing view of the Mahoning River. Fascinated by the historical significance of the river, especially with its past as a hub for salt mining before depletion, Stanilla found the inspiration he needed to craft the core of the lyrics for “Mahoning.”

Returning home after his adventure, Stanilla dedicated a year to perfecting the song at various gigs, showcasing it on his acoustic guitar.
