Following this revelation, some bands, including Destiny Bond and Time Heist, dropped out of the festival lineups. Dropkick Murphys also stated that they would no longer participate in any future Punk In The Park events. In response to the backlash, a petition circulated calling for the festival to be shut down. Collins defended his donation to Trump, arguing that the American two-party system is too limited. He also expressed his disapproval of Trump’s actions related to ICE and the Epstein files. Collins emphasized the importance of common ground on issues such as anti-racism, anti-war efforts, and human rights for all individuals, regardless of their background.
The controversy resurfaced recently when the Dead Kennedys announced that they were aware of Collins’ support for Trump and declared that they would not be scheduling any further Punk In The Park events. However, the band decided to honor their commitments to perform at the Pittsburgh and Vallejo shows out of respect for fans who had already bought tickets. This decision was met with criticism from former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra, who questioned the band’s motives.
