10 Irish music festivals to explore in 2022

Summer is a time for music lovers to come together and enjoy a variety of music festivals. While large festivals like Electric Picnic and All Together Now are well-known, there are smaller, more intimate festivals that offer a unique experience. Here are ten smaller Irish music festivals that are worth checking out this year.

Forest Fest, held in Emo, Co. Laois from July 24th to 26th, is a charming festival that focuses on nostalgia and features international acts like Echo and the Bunnymen, James, and Madness, as well as Irish favorites such as Paul Brady and The Boomtown Rats.

When Next We Meet, taking place from May 29th to 31st at Raheen House Hotel in Clonmel, celebrates alternative and independent Irish music with acts like The Waterboys and emerging bands like The Wran and Moxie.

Another Love Story, held from August 21st to 23rd at Killyon Manor in Co. Meath, is known for its intimate atmosphere and beautiful setting. While the lineup for this year has not been announced, past editions have featured exceptional Irish acts from the independent music scene.

Night & Day, a festival in Boyle, Co. Roscommon from May 29th to 31st, showcases established names like The Boomtown Rats and The Saw Doctors, as well as rising stars like Cardinals and Soda Blonde.

Beyond the Pale, held from June 12th to 14th, is set to feature a stellar lineup including Caribou, Primal Scream, and Father John Misty at the Glendalough Estate. Irish acts like Kojaque and Bricknasty will also take the stage.

AVA, held in Belfast from May 29th to 30th, is Northern Ireland’s biggest electronic music and visual arts event. The lineup includes local favorites like Kneecap, as well as international acts like Annie Mac and Honey Dijon.

The Rory Gallagher International Festival, taking place from May 28th to 31st in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, celebrates blues and rock music with acts like ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons and local hero Johnny Gallagher & Boxty.

Éalu Le Grá, held from May 29th to June 1st in Kilconnell, Co. Galway, offers an intimate music and arts experience within the grounds of the historic Georgian estate Béal na Bláth.

These smaller festivals provide music lovers with the opportunity to discover new artists, enjoy live performances, and immerse themselves in vibrant music scenes across Ireland.
