Black metal legends Venom have announced their highly anticipated sixteenth studio album, Into Oblivion, set to drop on May 1st. This new release follows their last album, Storm The Gates, which came out in 2018. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the band has unveiled the first single off the album, titled Lay Down Your Soul. The new track stays true to Venom’s early sound, combining a powerful chorus with the intensity that they are known for.

Venom, who formed in 1979, are considered trailblazers of the global black metal movement and have had a profound influence on extreme metal music for decades. The core lineup of Cronos (bass and vocals), Rage (guitar), and Dante (drums) has been creating music together for over 17 years. Cronos mentions that they were determined to uphold Venom’s legacy, despite facing setbacks like the global pandemic and studio challenges during the making of Into Oblivion.

The album features thirteen new tracks that blend their classic 1980s sound with a more expansive and modern sonic approach. While they’ve experimented with their style, the essence of Venom’s music remains intact – heavy riffs, dark themes, and an unwavering energy. Guitarist Rage points out that each song on the album has its own unique identity while fitting together seamlessly.

The leading single, Lay Down Your Soul, pays homage to Venom’s early work while infusing it with new energy. The band is confident that this track, with its catchy chorus and powerful riff, will become a fan favorite in their live shows.

The enduring camaraderie between Cronos, Rage, and Dante has also been an essential element in shaping the album. Their close bond and mutual respect have contributed to their continued success. With a discography that has had a massive impact on a genre, Venom’s latest album is expected to honor their roots while progressing their music forward once more.

Venom’s Into Oblivion promises to be a thrilling addition to their extensive catalog, showcasing their evolution while staying true to their distinctive sound. Fans can look forward to experiencing a blend of the band’s classic style and a fresh perspective in the upcoming release.
