Ozzfest announces return with dates at Villa Park

The highly anticipated return of Ozzfest has been confirmed by Sharon Osbourne. Ozzfest, a renowned heavy metal and hard rock festival co-founded by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne in 1996, has hosted iconic bands such as Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Slayer, Pantera, and Machine Head over the years.

In a conversation with her son Jack on their podcast, Sharon revealed plans for two Ozzfest dates at Villa Park Stadium in 2027, the same location where Black Sabbath’s memorable Back To The Beginning concert took place in the previous year. Sharon expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “Ozzfest is coming back, now you have to plan these things two years up front, so we’re looking at 2027, Aston Villa.”

The Osbournes aim to host a two-day festival at Aston Villa before taking the show to America. Seeking input from fans, Jack added, “We want to hear from everyone where we should go in America and who you want to see on it.” Sharon shared that staying busy was essential for her, as idle time was a thing of the past. She mentioned, “The time to just sit and do nothing has gone and I’m better keeping busy.”

Reflecting on the success of Back To The Beginning, Sharon and Jack discussed the monumental heavy metal gig held at Villa Park Stadium in July 2025. Black Sabbath bid farewell at their final concert, performing in front of 40,000 fans and supported by a lineup of rock icons influenced by the pioneers of heavy metal.

In terms of creativity, Sharon revealed she was working on various projects behind the scenes and emphasized the importance of discovering new young talent, as per her late husband’s wishes. Ozzfest has not taken place since its last event on New Year’s Eve in 2018 in California.

The announcement of Ozzfest’s return coincided with a week of tributes celebrating Ozzy’s life and contributions to the music industry. Ozzy received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the BRIT Awards, acknowledging his lasting impact. Sharon expressed Ozzy’s deep connection to his roots in Birmingham, emphasizing his pride in being a Brummie and his unwavering loyalty to his hometown.

As preparations for Ozzfest 2027 begin, fans eagerly anticipate the lineup and locations for the upcoming festival. The Osbournes’ dedication to honoring Ozzy’s legacy through music and showcasing emerging talent underscores the significance of Ozzfest’s return for the heavy metal and hard rock community.
