The New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) is hosting ArtNow 2026, the biggest juried high school art show on record, featuring artwork from nearly 100 young artists from Santa Clara County. The exhibition showcases a variety of works, including pieces from Iris Zheng, a junior at The King’s Academy, who submitted “Immigration” for the theme “Before/Between/Beyond.” Zheng’s piece is among the 97 selected works out of over 600 submissions from 53 high schools in the county.

The theme of “Before/Between/Beyond” allowed students to interpret and represent concepts related to these ideas in unique ways. This diverse range of interpretations has made the ArtNow show a fascinating collection of artistic expressions from young talents across the region. The works on display reflect the creativity, thoughtfulness, and skill of these emerging artists as they explore the boundaries and intersections of time, space, and personal narrative.

Among the participants from Sunnyvale are Audrey Wang and Iris Zheng, both juniors at The King’s Academy. Their inclusion in the prestigious exhibition is a testament to their artistic abilities and creative visions. With 97 artists from 36 high schools, this year’s show is the largest in its history, highlighting the growing interest and talent in the local youth art scene.

The exhibition will be open to the public from March 27 to July 19 at NUMU, located in the Los Gatos Civic Center. Visitors will have the opportunity to view and engage with a wide array of artworks that offer unique perspectives on the theme of “Before/Between/Beyond.” Additionally, an ArtNow Awards Ceremony is scheduled for May 2, providing a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of these talented young artists.

In other local news, Sunnyvale will welcome a new director of human resources, Heather Ruiz, starting March 30. With 25 years of experience in public sector human resources, Ruiz brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. Her background includes leadership positions with various municipalities, demonstrating her ability to build collaborative and high-performing teams. Ruiz’s appointment is a significant development for the city of Sunnyvale, and her leadership is expected to contribute to the continued success and growth of the community.

As the ArtNow exhibition approaches, anticipation is building for an engaging and thought-provoking showcase of young artistic talent in Santa Clara County. The involvement of students like Iris Zheng and Audrey Wang from Sunnyvale highlights the exceptional creativity and dedication of local youth to the arts. Visitors to NUMU can look forward to experiencing a visually stimulating and intellectually inspiring display of artwork that reflects the diverse perspectives and voices of the next generation of artists in the region.
