Recent video footage has emerged showing a missile hitting a compound near an Iranian elementary school, potentially indicating that the U.S. was responsible for the tragic Feb. 28 incident that resulted in the death of over 160 people. The video, shared by Iran’s Mehr News agency, depicts missiles striking a building next to a Revolutionary Guard base in Minab, Iran, causing a massive plume of smoke to billow into the sky.

Experts who analyzed the video footage suggest that the munition used in the strike resembles that of a U.S. Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM). Sam Lair, a research associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), elaborated that the appearance of the munition aligns with a TLAM due to its distinctive structure, including centrally mounted wings and a tailkit. Additionally, the video was captured approximately 250 meters from the presumed impact site, indicating a large munition size, ruling out other U.S. weapons with similar characteristics.

Images previously released by U.S. Central Command showcased the USS Spruance, part of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group, launching a Tomahawk missile on the same day as the incident in support of Operation Epic Fury. Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also confirmed during a press conference that the initial strike was executed using Tomahawk missiles deployed by the United States Navy. President Donald Trump, however, dismissed any U.S. involvement in the incident, instead attributing it to Iran and criticizing the country’s lack of precision in using munitions.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth affirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing, underscoring that Iran is the only party known to target civilians. The situation continues to escalate as the U.S. and Iran exchange accusations regarding the tragic incident, raising tensions in the region.

As the global community closely monitors developments in the aftermath of the missile strike near the Iranian elementary school, questions surrounding accountability and responsibility loom large. The impact of such military actions on innocent civilians underscores the need for thorough investigations and adherence to international humanitarian laws. The grim reality of the situation serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of armed conflicts, highlighting the importance of peaceful resolutions to international disputes.
