The upcoming release of the new album “Falling Together” by the US progressive rock group, Advent Horizon, marks an exciting return for the band. The new album, which follows the success of their critically acclaimed 2023 release “A Cell to Call Home,” is scheduled for release on May 15th, 2026. Fans can currently pre-order the album, expressing eager anticipation for its arrival.

“Falling Together” explores the theme of questioning one’s beliefs and values, examining whether they are truly individual perspectives or merely influences from others during formative years. Vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Rylee McDonald shares insights into the album’s underlying inspiration, stating, “I’ve spent the past decade reflecting on my upbringing and recognizing many of the ‘truths’ I once held were shaped beliefs. We still find ways to separate ourselves based on factors like religion, politics, and social status, perpetuating an ‘us vs. them’ mentality. ‘Falling Together’ embodies my attempt to capture these reflections in the form of music.”

Accompanying the album announcement is the release of the first single, “Past Life Parable,” along with a captivating full-band performance video. McDonald discusses the stylistic evolution showcased in the track, describing it as a blend of the band’s earlier sound and a new direction he has long desired to pursue. The song combines heavy elements with melodic rock sensibilities, featuring an uplifting overall tone and a standout harmonized guitar/synth solo that promises to resonate with listeners.

The creative process behind “Falling Together” traces back further than expected, with some of the material initially conceived during the making of “A Cell To Call Home.” Songs like the expansive “In a Lone and Dreary World” emerged during those sessions but did not fit within the scope of the previous release. Rather than force them into the album, the band set them aside to shape a follow-up project that shared the same musical DNA. Over time, approximately one-third of the next album took shape, fueled by a dedication to distill the band’s unique qualities into a heavier, tighter, and more authentic representation of their identity.

The writing process unfolded over two distinct periods, with some material dating back to 2018-2021 and the rest conceived during the summer of 2024. Rylee McDonald and drummer Mike Lofgreen found inspiration during secluded sessions by a remote mountain lake in northern Utah, allowing the serene surroundings to influence the tone of the newer tracks significantly. This isolation led to the creation of key songs that prominently feature in the album.

Recording took place between January and May 2025 at Cold House Studios in Provo, Utah, with production handled by the band and engineer Zach Boorman. The mastering of the album was overseen by Jens Bogren, known for his work with bands like Opeth, Haken, and Leprous, ensuring a polished final product. Furthermore, the album’s visual presentation was curated by artist Travis Smith, known for his work with Opeth and Devin Townsend, among others, enriching the project’s sound and atmosphere.

With “Falling Together” available on CD, vinyl, and all streaming platforms, fans can look forward to a comprehensive musical journey featuring tracks like “In A Lone And Dreary World,” “Patience,” and “Animals.” The band lineup consists of Rylee McDonald on vocals, guitars, and keys; Mike Lofgreen on drums and percussion; Cason Wood on bass, keys, and trombone; and Grant Matheson on guitar, keys, and vocals.
