Purple Group, a leading production company based in the Netherlands, has recently made a significant investment in Martin Audio’s WPC and WPL Wavefront Precision line array systems. These cutting-edge systems were supplied by Ampco Flashlight Sales, a trusted distributor in the region. With more than three decades of experience in lighting, sound, video, and rigging, Purple Group has a long-standing relationship with Martin Audio, having utilized legacy systems like W8LC, W8LM, and Longbow in the past. The decision to upgrade to the latest Wavefront Precision arrays was a natural progression for the company.

Guus Hoekstra and Robert de Loey, who oversee Purple Group’s daily operations, expressed their satisfaction with the Martin Audio brand. De Loey stated, “I’ve enjoyed working with Martin Audio for years. The brand has always proven to be reliable, delivering a sonic signature that immediately appeals to both artists and engineers.” Working in close collaboration with Ampco Flashlight Sales, Purple Group recognized the versatility of the WPC system for their rental needs. The WPC system, a 2 x 10”, medium-format, three-way bi-amped array, offers premium performance, consistency, and projection, making it ideal for a wide range of events – from festivals to indoor shows.

The initial investment included 24 WPC elements, 24 SX218 dual-18” subwoofers, and TORUST1215 constant curvature loudspeakers for front fills, all powered by iKON multi-channel amplifiers. The WPC system quickly showcased its capabilities in the field, delivering high-fidelity sound, uniform coverage, and ample headroom, even in challenging large-scale outdoor settings. It made its debut at Zwarte Cross in Lichtenvoorde, the world’s largest motocross and music festival, as well as the Nirwana Tuinfeest rock festival. The system impressed with its performance during performances by renowned acts like Kensington and Triggerfinger.

Given the positive feedback and success of the WPC deployments, Purple Group expanded its inventory with a second significant investment in 24 WPL large-format 2 x 12” elements and 24 SXH218 high-output subwoofers. Martijn de Jong from Ampco Flashlight Sales emphasized the strategic value of this expansion, noting that Purple Group now possesses two powerful, flexible, and future-proof systems that cater to a variety of event requirements. Guus Hoekstra reiterated this sentiment, stating, “The combination of Martin Audio’s WPC and WPL provides us with the flexibility to serve a wide variety of shows, from festivals to indoor events. This makes it a valuable investment, both now and in the future.”
