Music video debut: Laura Frank releases new song ‘God Knows, I Know’
Laura Frank, a talented singer-songwriter from Brisbane, is currently immersed in a 60-date regional Australian tour. Amidst the chaos of performances, family life, and long drives, she has transformed the tour experience into a captivating music video for her latest single “God Knows, I Know.” Shot during a tour stop in The Rock, NSW, the video encapsulates the unique essence of life on the road for Frank and her partner Nick Morrissey.
Rather than opting for a conventional set or production crew, Frank and Morrissey embraced the authenticity of their touring lifestyle. The video showcases their vintage 1978 Viscount caravan, affectionately named Barney, which they renovated for their travels. Alongside the caravan, their furry companions – two dogs, Dennis and Winnie, their aloof cat Kevin, and their five-month-old baby Morris – all play integral roles in the video, reflecting the nomadic nature of their journey across the country.
The inspiration for the video stemmed from the organic nature of their lives on the road. Frank explained, “The video for ‘God Knows, I Know’ basically wrote itself – which felt pretty on brand for a song about trusting your instincts.” Parked outside the venue where they were set to perform, the caravan served as the backdrop for filming their genuine experiences on tour. The presence of their pets and young child added a heartfelt and chaotic dimension to the video, capturing the essence of their nomadic lifestyle on the road.
“God Knows, I Know” marks a new musical chapter for Frank, following an intense period of touring. Co-written with Morrissey and recorded in the hinterland of Byron Bay, the track was produced and mixed by Jordan Power and mastered by George Georgiadis. Reflecting on the creative process, Frank shared, “The song started as a conversation – the kind you have late at night when you’re tired but thinking clearly. We wrote it simply, just the two of us, chasing the feeling rather than trying to be clever.”
With plans to release several singles throughout 2026 leading up to a full album later in the year, “God Knows, I Know” sets the tone for what’s to come from Laura Frank. The raw and honest approach to songwriting and production, coupled with the real-life experiences captured in the music video, offer a glimpse into the captivating journey of this talented artist as she navigates her way through regional Australia.
