Off-duty NYPD officer caught on video shooting man suspected of car theft
An alarming video has emerged, capturing the disturbing moment an off-duty NYPD officer took matters into his own hands and fired at two suspected car thieves. The officer, identified as Jonathan Baez by law enforcement sources, trailed the men he believed were responsible for stealing his car in the Bronx.
The intense confrontation unfolded after 9 p.m. on a Monday when the officer spotted the suspects double-parked on West 231st Street in Kingsbridge. Without issuing any warning, the officer approached the white sedan and discharged multiple rounds, as shown in the footage.

She encountered a distressed woman, who she believed was the girlfriend of one of the suspects, on the phone with him. The woman’s fear was palpable, as she considered stepping into the dangerous crossfire to reach her concealed boyfriend.
The critically wounded victim, reportedly lacking a criminal record, remains in critical condition at the hospital.
