Video footage captures unknown person attacking mother in NYC while police search for suspect

Ramales, who recounted the incident from her hospital bed, revealed that she sustained four stab wounds resulting in back injuries and broken ribs. However, the surveillance video suggests that the suspect inflicted more injuries than initially reported. Despite her cries for help, the attacker showed no mercy, inflicting harm on Ramales without any apparent motive or intention to steal her belongings.
The NYPD has shared additional footage of a person of interest in connection with the attack, dressed in dark attire, tailing the unsuspecting victim as she crossed the street. Authorities recovered a knife at the crime scene but are yet to apprehend the suspect, believed to have fled eastbound on 23rd Avenue following the assault. The assault unfolded in the 115th Precinct of North Queens, once regarded as one of New York’s safest neighborhoods, where a disturbing 62% rise in murders was recorded in 2025.
The incident follows another recent violent knife attack in Queens, where an Astoria resident fatally stabbed his elderly neighbor after harboring a long-standing obsession with the victim. The 48-year-old suspect reportedly initiated the assault in the lobby of their building, underscoring the prevalence of such distressing acts of violence in the borough.
