New song from SWEAT featured on upcoming LP “Tear It on Down”
Sweat, a Los Angeles-based punk band, is gearing up to release their new album, “Tear It on Down,” which was recorded live to a 16-track at Atomic Garden in Oakland last July. The band, consisting of Tuna Tardugno on vocals, Anthony Rivera on drums, and guitarist/vocalist Justin Smith, ensured the authenticity of their sound by eschewing modern recording practices for a more organic approach.
Engineer Jack Shirley, known for his work with bands like Deafheaven and Loma Prieta, also played a crucial role in the recording process. The band members came together in the studio, facing each other, and playing off one another’s energy, creating a genuine and raw sound that captures the essence of their performance.
Smith expresses a clear disdain for the over-produced and detached nature of modern recordings, particularly within the hardcore scene. He explains that the live-to-tape recording method was a deliberate choice to capture the band’s real-time performance, flaws, and all, rather than relying on post-production editing to achieve perfection.
“Noise is the Solution,” the first track off the upcoming album, embodies Sweat’s rebellious spirit and determination to stay true to themselves in the face of adversity. Smith describes the song as a defiant anthem, urging listeners to maintain their audacity and continue rocking unapologetically despite external pressures. It’s a reminder to stand firm and assert your identity, no matter the circumstances.
Since their formation in 2019, Sweat has drawn inspiration from a wide range of musical influences, seamlessly blending elements of punk, hardcore, and rock ‘n’ roll in their sound. Their upcoming album, “Tear It on Down,” promises to showcase the band’s versatility and musical prowess, following the success of their previous releases.
As Sweat prepares to hit the road for a series of live performances, including dates in California, Colorado, and Arizona, fans can expect an electrifying and energetic show that captures the raw intensity of their music. With a commitment to staying true to their roots and delivering an authentic live experience, Sweat continues to carve out a unique space in the punk rock scene.
In a music industry saturated with digital production and artificial perfection, Sweat stands out as a beacon of authenticity, channeling the raw energy and passion of their live performances into their recordings. “Tear It on Down” promises to be a testament to the band’s unwavering dedication to their craft, offering listeners a visceral and unfiltered musical experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional punk rock.
