The recently disclosed footage presents the moment that an Air Canada passenger aircraft collided with a Port Authority rescue truck during a fatal crash at LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Sunday evening. Shared by the @RawAlerts X account on Monday morning, the video includes the distraught air traffic control audio recorded before and after the crash involving a tragic admission of fault.

Following the incident on Runway 4 late Sunday night, air traffic controllers advised another approaching Frontier plane to navigate away from the crash site. Initially cleared to cross the runway, the truck was directed to halt by air traffic controllers as they alerted both the Frontier plane and the truck to halt their movements.

“You need to stop,” the controller urgently warned. “Truck 1, stop, stop, stop. Stop, Truck 1. Stop.”

Subsequently, a Delta flight received instructions to circumvent the crash site before the air traffic controller shifted focus back to the Air Canada/Jazz Aviation plane, recently landed from Montreal.

“Jazz 646, it appears that you have made contact with the vehicle. Please remain stationary. I am aware that you are unable to move. Emergency response vehicles are en route to your location,” the air traffic controller communicated.

Following the unfolding events, the Frontier crew was informed that the runway would be shut down and inquired if they could return to the ramp.

“That was unsettling to witness,” the Frontier pilots acknowledged.

“I tried to contact them … We were in the middle of handling an emergency, and I made an error,” the controller disclosed.

“No, you did everything you could,” the Frontier crew reassured.

In the grim aftermath of the crash, two pilots lost their lives, with 41 individuals hospitalized. The temporary closing of the airport, a major one in the U.S., was necessitated for most of the ensuing day, according to the New York Post. While both the pilot and co-pilot of the Air Canada Bombardier CRJ-900 jet succumbed to injuries, many passengers and crew members found themselves injured as well, according to informed sources.

During the crash, a female flight attendant was ejected from the front of the aircraft but miraculously survived due to the Port Authority officers’ swift response. Notably, two police officers present in the Port Authority rescue truck undergoing the crash were among those hospitalized. Kathryn Garcia, the Port Authority executive director, affirmed that 32 of the individuals receiving medical attention had been discharged, while others were classified as “seriously injured,” despite not providing further details.

Reports indicated that the hospitalized passengers were receiving medical care at Elmhurst or Queens Presbyterian hospitals.
