Armani White and More to Perform at Federal Frenzy Rock Fest
Youngstown’s Federal Frenzy rock festival is gearing up for an exciting lineup this year, with hip-hop artist Armani White headlining the event. Alongside White, 22 other bands will take the stage, including acts like Kid Mammoth, Marcus Smith, and the Rapscallions, and The Sweet Spot.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18, when the festival will transform West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown into a music lover’s paradise. Vehicular traffic will be prohibited on the street from Vindicator Square to Central Square to make way for the festivities.
Attendees can expect music to flow from two large outdoor stages, the Main Stage in front of the Draught House and The Summit Stage in front of the West 34 restaurant. The layout remains the same as previous years, with the only change being that the stages will switch sides. Additionally, three bars along West Federal, Twisted Roots, The Varsity Club, and V2, will host live music acts.
Armani White is slated to perform from 10-10:45 p.m. on the Main Stage. Hailing from Philadelphia, the artist gained recognition for his track “Billie Eilish,” which went viral. Notably, he surprised audiences with a guest appearance alongside Eilish at a festival in Montreal back in 2023.
The festival’s organizers, Penguin Productions, a volunteer student group at Youngstown State University, had tried to book White for the 2020 event. Unfortunately, the festival had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, when White became available again this year, they didn’t hesitate to secure his performance.
According to Carolyn Jesko, assistant director of programming at Youngstown State University’s Office of Student Affairs, White’s popularity has only grown in the past few years. This year saw an influx of band applications, with approximately 130 groups vying for a spot at Federal Frenzy. Jesko mentioned that most applicants were from the local Mahoning Valley area, as well as nearby cities like Akron, Columbus, and Cleveland.
