Further into the footage, O’Keefe and his team are seen visiting the addresses listed on the forms, only to discover that many of the purported voters either do not reside at the given locations or have not lived there for an extended period. The gravity of the situation is exacerbated by the fact that these actions constitute violations of several California felony statutes. Notably, Elections Code Section 18613 explicitly criminalizes signing fictitious names or false signatures on any initiative, referendum, or recall petition, while California Penal Code 470 prohibits knowingly falsifying or signing another person’s name on legal documents with the intent to defraud.
Apart from the blatant forgery, O’Keefe’s team was also subjected to physical assault during their investigation, highlighting the dangerous and criminal nature of the activities uncovered. “My producer Andrew was punched in the neck, in the face, by one of these guys. That’s a battery…and Anthony Rubin was punched. That’s a battery,” O’Keefe shares, underscoring the risks involved in exposing such election fraud.
