Pennsylvania’s own Tigers Jaw made a powerful comeback with their seventh studio album, “Lost on You.” This album symbolizes the band’s trajectory over the last twenty years, reflecting their growth, evolution, and a new creative direction. After their prior album, “I Won’t Care How You Remember Me,” released in 2021, the band’s new album showcases the band’s eagerness to explore and experiment.

The emergence of “Lost on You” came after a hiatus due to the global COVID-19 pandemic along with extensive touring commitments. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Walsh shared that they decided to dedicate ample time to the album’s creation, embracing a more casual collaborative approach within the band. Instead of traditional demos, the band opted for a novel method, blending loose ideas to spark creatively fulfilling jamming sessions.

Ben Walsh, known for his musical versatility, typically brings fully developed demos to the table. However, this time, the band chose to set aside those structured ideas, opting for a more spontaneous and open-ended approach. According to co-vocalist Brianna Collins, this uncharted territory allowed the band to find new rhythms and melodies that were previously undiscovered. One such instance was their lead single, “Head is Like a Sinking Stone,” where guitarist Mark Lebiecki proposed a compelling riff that set the tone for this song’s creation process.

Throughout this process, Tigers Jaw embarked on a musical journey that led to the cultivation of fresh and innovative tracks, steering away from any preconceived notions. The band’s new music materialized from shared musical encounters and collective brainstorming that yielded exciting new territory for them. Exploring themes that may have been set aside or discarded previously, the band embraced the uncharted waters of creativity that resulted in surprising and eclectic compositions.
One of the standout tracks from the album, “Primary Colors,” showcases Walsh’s creative process over the years, where initially written lines transmute and evolve to their final form over time. This proves that often, moments of inspiration require patience and a willingness to explore unfamiliar pathways to achieve greatness.

A standout feature of Tigers Jaw’s latest album is its openness to experimentation and collaboration. Each band member, old or new, contributes unique elements that blend into a harmonious whole. Through shared creativity and exploration, Tigers Jaw has crafted an album rich in emotion, depth, and creativity. “Lost on You” stands as a testament to the band’s relentless pursuit of musical innovation and a promise of exciting material to look forward to in the future.
