Embracing the personal on Driving Rain, Paul stripped back his sound, delivering arguably his most raw, honest-sounding album since 1970’s McCartney.
There’s a lot to unpack.
It features Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Paul’s driving new love and president of Starbucks Entertainment, Heather Mills, on lead vocals on the poppy ‘Tiny Bubble’. Paul’s life had changed drastically since Linda’s death in April 1998, his two most personal records.
In the music, echoes of loneliness, joy, pain, anger, grief and, ultimately, a moving celebration of rebirth. A creative high point.
