Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was reportedly targeted in an attack involving an unknown substance. The incident took place in Santa Monica, California, when the renowned musician, 76 years old and a two-time Grammy winner, was confronted by a woman during an appointment.

According to reports from NBC4 Investigates, the assailant, described as a “stalking suspect” by authorities, hurled the substance at Buckingham before fleeing the scene hastily. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit is collaborating with the Santa Monica Police Department to look into the matter, as confirmed by LAPD officials working towards resolving the issue.

Although the Santa Monica Police Department has identified the suspect, no arrests have been made as of now. Luckily, Buckingham emerged physically unharmed from the encounter, as per details shared with NBC4. Besides, representatives for Buckingham and the SMPD refrained from offering an immediate response to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding the incident.

This unsettling occurrence is not the first time that Buckingham has had to deal with harassment. Back in December 2024, he was granted a permanent restraining order against another alleged stalker, raising questions about a potential link to the recent attack. Court proceedings noted that this restraining order was the result of Buckingham’s testimony and presentation of evidence before a Los Angeles judge, as reported by The Blast. The individual in question, known only as Michelle, had purportedly harassed Buckingham and his family since 2021, with disturbing threats of violence directed towards them.

Expressing genuine concern for his safety and that of his loved ones, Buckingham emphasized the fear that the stalker’s actions could escalate into physical harm. Despite these troubling incidents, Buckingham, married to photographer Kristen Messner since 2000 with three children together, has continued to carve out a remarkable legacy in the music industry.

Buckingham’s journey began in the early 1970s as part of the Buckingham Nicks duo alongside Stevie Nicks, but it was his collaboration with Fleetwood Mac in 1975 that truly propelled him to fame. Besides his work with the iconic band, Buckingham has also forged a successful solo career, distinct for its innovative and experimental nature, solidifying his reputation as a pioneering musician in the rock genre.
