U2 Announce Easter Lily as New Album Plans Develop

U2 surprised fans with the release of their latest six-song EP, Easter Lily, marking another productive period for the iconic band. Following the release of March’s Days of Ash, this new project features a collaboration with Brian Eno and is described by the band as a more personal collection of songs.

The EP kicks off with Song for Hal, a heartfelt tribute to the late Hal Willner, a close friend and producer who passed away in 2020. Bono revealed that the title, Easter Lily, pays homage to Patti Smith’s 1978 album Easter, which had a profound impact on him during his youth.

Closing the EP is Coexist (I Will Bless the Lord at All Times?), a poignant track produced by Eno and inspired by families with children living in war-torn areas. Accompanying this release is a new digital version of the band’s Propaganda zine, featuring insights, reflections, photographs, and lyrics.

These two EPs from 2026 serve as a prelude to U2’s upcoming full-length album slated for release later this year, showing that the band is still hard at work in the studio perfecting their new material.
