Balaam And The Angel release new EP “Love Death Wealth Water”
Balaam And The Angel are making waves with their latest EP titled “Love Death Wealth Water,” signaling a return to their classic dark and atmospheric sound. This EP follows the success of their 2024 release, “Forces Of Evil,” marking their first new material in over 30 years. Set to be released on May 1st, the EP will be available for streaming and download on various digital platforms, with a limited-edition vinyl version also up for pre-order on their Darklands Recordings label.
Returning to Oxygene studios in Manchester for production, the band collaborated with Christoph Bride, known for his work with The Chameleons and Kirk Brandon/Theatre Of Hate/ Spear Of Destiny. The decision to work with Bride was an obvious one, given the positive reception of their previous EP. The band deliberately combined the ambiance of their earlier work with the edgier sound of their later albums, experimenting with new songwriting and recording techniques to create a fresh and dynamic sound.
The EP features four tracks that touch on a variety of themes, from introspective reflections on daily life and relationships to more provocative topics like poverty and the dangers of online hacking and extortion. Balaam And The Angel expressed their satisfaction with the response to “Forces Of Evil,” noting the enthusiasm of the alternative rock scene in the UK for their new music. The band approached the recording process for “Love Death Wealth Water” with a renewed sense of confidence, aiming to deliver energetic and atmospheric rock that resonates with contemporary audiences.
With a focus on attention to detail and a desire to surpass their previous work, Balaam And The Angel challenged themselves to push their creative boundaries further. The result is a collection of songs that showcase the band’s evolution while staying true to their distinctive sound. Fans can expect a blend of the familiar dark undertones of their earlier music with a modern twist, highlighting their growth and adaptability as artists.
As they gear up for the release of “Love Death Wealth Water,” Balaam And The Angel are also preparing for an autumn tour to celebrate 40 years since the iconic “The Greatest Story Ever Told” album. This tour will be a chance for fans old and new to experience the band’s timeless music live, cementing their legacy and reigniting their passion for performing.
