2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced for music’s top accolade

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced the latest inductees for 2026, marking a significant milestone in the music industry. The class of 2026 includes a diverse array of iconic musicians, with artists like Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan being recognized in the Performer category. Additionally, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Gram Parsons will receive the Early Influence Award.

The induction ceremony will also honor producers Jimmy Miller, Rick Rubin, and Arif Mardin, as well as songwriter Linda Creed, with the Music Excellence Award. The late American television host and impresario Ed Sullivan will posthumously be awarded the Ahmet Ertegun Award, rounding off a distinguished list of honorees.

John Sykes, the Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, emphasized the significance of this recognition, stating, “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor. However, amidst the celebrations, some notable artists were left off the list this year. Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, and Shakira were among the nominees who were not selected for induction. Music legend Phil Collins, who was previously inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010, will now be honored as a solo artist. Similarly, Billy Idol welcomed the news with enthusiasm, describing it as a “perfect payoff” and a dream come true.
