Directed by Ray Yeung, known for his exploration of issues faced by aging gay couples, the film delves into the residual biases against homosexuality in Hong Kong. Beyond this, it addresses pressing social issues such as housing shortages, employment struggles, and economic disparities, all interwoven into the couple’s personal struggles in the aftermath of the loss.

The storyline follows the lives of Angie and Pat, a lesbian couple well into their sixties, thrown into turmoil by the unexpected death of Pat. As Angie navigates funeral arrangements and property inheritance in the shadow of Hong Kong laws favoring blood relatives, she confronts Pat’s family and the possibility of losing their shared home. The film captures the essence of Angie’s battle to preserve their cherished space against familial claims.

Offering a poignant and profound critique of societal injustices, ‘All Shall Be Well’ presents a rare opportunity for viewers in Sapporo to engage with this powerful cinematic experience. Through the lens of grief, inheritance, and human connection, the film highlights the resilience of love in the face of adversity.
