Drowning Pool marks 25 years since ‘Sinner’ release with reissue and bonus tracks.
Craft Recordings is set to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Drowning Pool’s groundbreaking debut album, “Sinner,” with a special reissue and bonus tracks scheduled for release on June 5. Originally unveiled in 2001, this pivotal album achieved platinum certification and remains the only studio album to feature the original vocalist, Dave Williams.
Vinyl enthusiasts will have the opportunity to acquire the album in a limited-edition sea ink swirl pressing, with exclusive variants available from Revolver and the band’s official website in clear smoke and purple smoke, respectively. As part of the expanded streaming version, three additional bonus tracks, including “Bodies (Chris Vrenna’s XXX Tweaker Mix),” “The Man Without Fear” featuring Rob Zombie, and a demo of “Break You,” will be included for fans to enjoy.
Formed in Dallas in 1996, Drowning Pool initially consisted of guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce, and bassist Stevie Benton as an instrumental trio. With the addition of Dave Williams in 1999, the band solidified their lineup and signed with Wind-up Records after successful tours supporting acts like Sevendust, Kittie, and (hed)pe.
Upon its release, “Sinner” made a significant impact by debuting at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 chart in June 2001, ultimately achieving platinum status within three months. The album’s lead single, “Bodies,” was a major success, reaching the Top 10 on the Mainstream Rock chart and charting in the Top 40 in the U.K. The song has since been featured in various wrestling broadcasts by organizations such as WWE, ECW, and AEW.
Tragically, Dave Williams passed away in August 2002 due to heart disease, but Drowning Pool persevered with new vocalists like Ryan McCombs and Jasen Moreno, releasing seven subsequent studio albums. Expressing gratitude for their dedicated fan base, the band conveyed their appreciation and announced plans to perform “Sinner” in its entirety, along with other fan-favorite tracks, at upcoming shows.
Fans can catch Drowning Pool live at Welcome To Rockville on May 8, and they are also slated to perform at Aftershock on October 2, with additional tour dates in South America and Europe throughout the summer. The band’s enduring legacy and continued success serve as a testament to their resilience and lasting impact on the music scene.
