Taylor Frankie Paul found not guilty of additional domestic violence accusations

Taylor Frankie Paul has been cleared of new domestic violence charges in Utah. The charges stemmed from allegations made by her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, the father of Paul’s two-year-old son. The investigation into the claims of domestic violence occurred in 2024 and February 2026 in Salt Lake City suburbs. Paul also made allegations against Mortensen, but these were not addressed in the documents.

Prosecutors in Utah decided not to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul after reviewing reports and evidence submitted to the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department. The District Attorney’s office cited insufficient evidence and incidents that did not rise to the level of criminal offenses as reasons for not pursuing charges against Paul. Some incidents reported occurred more than three years ago and lacked specificity as to when and what actually occurred.

The lack of prosecution does not directly impact Mortensen’s protective order against Paul, which could become long-term. However, it could help Paul and her lawyers make her case to have visits with her son unsupervised. At a previous hearing, it was ordered that her visits with her son had to be supervised.

Paul’s lawyer argued that Mortensen was the aggressor in a February altercation, which the lawyer referred to as “the truck tussle.” Mortensen had requested a protective order, claiming that Paul threw a drink at him, but Paul’s lawyer provided photos of bruises she sustained during the incident. Paul and Mortensen’s tumultuous relationship has been a major storyline on the reality TV show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Paul took to her Instagram stories to express her gratitude after being cleared of the charges. She posted a photo of a vase of flowers and a card with a butterfly image, thanking those who stood by her. The spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department previously confirmed that “allegations have been made in both directions” following the incident.

This isn’t Paul’s first encounter with the law. In 2023, she was arrested for domestic violence charges. Paul faced misdemeanour charges after allegedly throwing a chair at Mortensen during an altercation. She later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in August 2023.

Paul’s troubles with the law have affected her career in the past. ABC decided to pull her season of The Bachelorette after footage of the 2023 incident between Paul and Mortensen surfaced. Paul is now focused on prioritizing her family’s safety and security after years of silent suffering, according to her spokesperson. Mortensen denied the allegations made against him and expressed his focus on their son’s safety.

In response to inquiries, Paul’s representatives directed to their original statement and the prosecutors’ comments regarding the case.
