In a recent development on the music scene, Nickelback’s track “Bones for the Crows” has made its mark on the Billboard Canada Airplay charts, securing the 21st spot on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart for the dated April 18th release. While this might seem like a groundbreaking achievement, the song itself is not entirely new, as it was initially crafted for the video game Dungeon Hunter 6 back in 2023 before it found new life as the theme song for WrestleMania 42, WWE’s premier live event.

The track itself is a high-energy anthem that seamlessly blends modern, punchy production with the raw, edgy sound reminiscent of 2000s active rock. This return to Nickelback’s harder-edged rock roots echoes the style that initially catapulted them to the status of Canadian rock icons. “Bones for the Crows” features a powerful, chugging guitar riff that complements frontman Chad Kroeger’s aggressive vocals, carrying listeners through the track’s dynamic four-minute runtime. Notably, this release marks Nickelback’s first solo original material since their 2022 album “Get Rollin’,” which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, and the band also made a feature appearance on Don Broco’s 2026 hit single “Nightmare Tripping.”

WWE’s chief content officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, expressed his excitement over Nickelback’s involvement in WrestleMania, highlighting the longstanding partnership between the band and the professional wrestling organization. This collaboration is not the first time Nickelback has been called upon to promote a wrestling event, as their track “Burn It to the Ground” served as the theme song for WWE’s flagship show, Raw, in the late 2000s.

Apart from Nickelback’s success on the charts, other Canadian artists have also been making waves in the music industry. JF PauzĂ©, a member of Les Cowboys Fringants, recently debuted his song “Puisqu’Il Faut” on multiple Airplay charts, reaching No. 46 on All-Format and No. 30 on AC. This classic folk-rock track is characterized by its acoustic guitar-driven melody, encapsulating a reflective and sentimental narrative that explores themes of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Moreover, Aaron Goodvin’s “Said No Redneck Ever” entered the charts at No. 50 on All-Format, while Tia Wood’s “Sage My Soul” and Cameron Whitcomb’s “You and Me” secured positions on the AC and CHR/Top 40 charts, respectively. The diverse range of musical styles and genres showcased by these artists highlights the rich tapestry of talent within the Canadian music scene.

As the music landscape continues to evolve and diversify, the Billboard Canada Airplay charts serve as a testament to the breadth and depth of musical talent present in the industry. From established acts like Nickelback to emerging artists like JF Pauzé and Tia Wood, Canadian musicians are making their mark on the global stage, cementing their status as influential and innovative creators in the music world.
