Double trouble came to Tokyo recently with Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes putting on a fantastic show for metal fans in the city. Atrocity, a death metal band founded in 1985, showcased their consistency in musical style and quality over the years. Despite missing a bassist on their current tour, the band delivered a hard-hitting performance that pleased fans. The setlist was a mix of songs from their latest album, “Okkult III”, as well as older favorites like “Fatal Step” and “Necropolis.”

After a short break, the members of Atrocity returned to the stage to perform a set from Leaves’ Eyes. It turns out that all four Atrocity band members are also part of Leaves’ Eyes. Combining elements of symphonic metal, folk metal, and Viking themes, Leaves’ Eyes’ music resonates well with a Japanese audience. Lead vocalist Elina Siirala’s soprano vocals were a perfect fit for the symphonic metal sound, contrasting beautifully with Alexander Krull’s growls. The partnership between Alexander and Elina has grown stronger over the last decade, reflected in their flawless performance.

Leaves’ Eyes treated fans to a setlist of fan favorites like “Realm of Dark Waves”, “Who Wants to Live Forever”, “Across the Sea”, and “Sign of the Dragonhead”. Additionally, they introduced tracks from their latest EP “Song of Darkness” with “Song of Darkness” and “Hall of the Brave”. The energy on stage was infectious, with the band members delivering a stellar performance despite this being their second show of the night.

The night concluded with the powerful sound of “Forged by Fire”, wrapping up a night packed with live metal music in Tokyo. The show was well-received by fans, many of whom had been eagerly waiting to see Atrocity and Leaves’ Eyes perform live in Japan. The bands’ ability to connect with the audience through their music transcended language barriers, creating an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
